Our first pattern app - Betony Hat

We're happy to announce that our first instructional knitting pattern app is now available in the App Store. Along with a complete original knitting pattern for the Betony Hat, the app contains instructional videos that demonstrate key techniques, right when they're needed.

The Betony Hat is a basic hat pattern. Skills taught with this pattern include: the long tail cast on, ribbing, knitting in the round with circular and double pointed needles, and decreasing. Skills you should already be familiar with: the knit and purl stitches. This pattern is suitable for beginning knitters.

We hope you like the Betony Hat. We're currently hard at work on several other instructional knitting pattern apps with varying degrees of difficulty.

Better late than never

Starting a knitting blog after most everyone else, and several years of prodding by Pete. With this blog I am joining the online knitting community as more than a lurker. I am a thirty-something year old full-time mom and part time knitting instructor. I have been knitting for 30 years, so the mathy part of me just realized I started when I was "something" years old. Something like that. I started teaching six years ago on a rainy Girl Scout campout, by a warm cozy fire. Since then I have learned so much from my students and from my knitting. That is what this blog will be about. That and the occasional picture of really pretty yarns.
